Personal loans offer flexible repayment tenures and quick loan disbursement which is a great option if you are looking for urgent funds to cover your sudden expenses for a while. In India, Aadhaar card has proved to be a very important document for availing of financial services. It is a known identity and address proof that makes it easy to apply for personal loans.

A 2 lakh loan on an Aadhaar card is an easy to access financial option for people who need money instantly and without much paper work. Let us understand in detail

Key benefits of loan on Aadhar card

Simplified documentation: Aadhaar card based loans are different from normal loans as they don’t require many documents such as income proof, address proof, and identity proof. Aadhaar is being used as a single document to verify both identity and address by lenders, reducing the need for paperwork.

Digital process: These loans are offered online and provide a completely digital process. This speeds up approvals, eliminates manual intervention and disbursal.

Accessibility: Even those with limited financial documents can get loans on Aadhar card. Hence, if you do not have a regular income source, you can still apply for the loan and meet your financial obligations.

Quick processing: These loans offer faster approvals and disbursals because of the digital application process. This way you can save your precious time effectively.

No collateral required: Loans on Aadhar card are unsecured, meaning you are not required to pledge any assets as collateral.

Eligibility criteria for 2 lakh loan on Aadhaar card

Age: Usually, you are required to be between 21 to 60 years old. In some cases lenders may approve up to the age of 65.

Income: Usually, lenders require a minimum monthly income between ₹15,000 and ₹25,000. It is available to salaried and self employed individuals.

Credit score: A good credit score (in the range of 650-700 or more) makes it more likely that you’ll be approved and get low interest rates.

Employment status: You must be a salaried employee or self employed individual.

Valid Aadhaar card: For verification purpose, Aadhaar card has to be active and linked to the applicant’s mobile number.

Documents required for 2 lakh loan on Aadhaar card

Although the specific documents required may depend on the bank’s policies as well as your overall profile, most lenders require these documents in order to evaluate your eligibility:

  • PAN card
  • Last 3-6 months bank account statements
  • Income proof in case of salaried individuals
  • ITR return (for self employed people)

How to apply for a 2 lakh loan on Aadhaar card

Online application: Go to the lender’s website or download their mobile app.

Eligibility check: Check for the eligibility criteria for the loan. You can use an eligibility calculator provided by the lender in order to determine the eligibility.

Document upload: Upload your Aadhaar card, PAN card, and income proofs. Make sure you have linked your Aadhaar with your mobile number for OTP based authentication.

Approval and disbursal: After you submit your documents, the loan is approved. The disbursal takes 24 to 48 hours, depending on the lender.

Things to keep in mind

Interest rates: Personal loans are unsecured, hence, the interest rates will depend on other factors such as credit score, income, credit history and many other factors. Hence, compare interest rates offered by various lenders before choosing one.

Processing fees: Check for processing fees as well as other charges which may levy on the EMI in order to avoid any last minute surprises.

EMI affordability: Calculate your monthly instalment with the help of an EMI calculator and see if it fits in your budget.

Credit score impact: Repaying your loan on time can help your credit score, and missing one or failing to repay can hurt your creditworthiness. Hence, borrow mindfully and only if you really require the loan.

SBI has launched two new deposit schemes: Har Ghar Lakhpati, a recurring deposit plan helping customers save ₹1 lakh or more, and SBI Patrons, a fixed deposit scheme offering higher interest rates for senior citizens aged 80 and above.

The State Bank of India (SBI) has launched two innovative deposit schemes: ‘Har Ghar Lakhpati’ and ‘SBI Patrons,’ aiming to enhance financial inclusion and cater to diverse customer needs.

Har Ghar Lakhpati: Pre-Calculated Recurring Deposit Scheme

Har Ghar Lakhpati’ is a pre-calculated recurring deposit designed to help customers accumulate ₹1 lakh or multiples thereof. This scheme simplifies the process of achieving financial goals, allowing customers to plan and save effectively. It is also available to minors, encouraging early financial planning and savings habits.

SBI Patrons: Specialized Fixed Deposit for Senior Citizens

SBI has introduced ‘SBI Patrons,’ a specialized fixed deposit scheme tailored for senior citizens aged 80 years and above. This product offers enhanced interest rates, recognizing the long-standing relationship many senior customers have with the bank. SBI Patrons is available to both existing and new term deposit customers.

Interest Rates and Terms

Har Ghar Lakhpati: The minimum tenure for recurring deposits is 12 months (one year), and the maximum is 120 months (10 years). The interest rates for this scheme are aligned with those offered on fixed deposits.

SBI Patrons: Depositors under this scheme would earn an additional 10 basis points higher interest rate than what is offered to senior citizens. The current fixed deposit rates for senior citizens are:

  • Above 1 year tenure: 6.80%
  • Above 2 years: 7%
  • Above 3 years to less than 5 years: 6.75%
  • For 5-10 years: 6.5%

  • Enhance financial inclusion by offering products that cater to specific customer segments.
  • Strengthen its market leadership in deposits.
  • Provide goal-oriented deposit products that align with customers’ aspirations.

From January 1, 2025, some of the bank accounts will be closed as per the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) new guidelines. As per the central bank’s directives, three specific types of bank accounts will be closed to enhance security, reduce fraud, and improve the overall efficiency of banking operations.

Dormant accounts: Inactive accounts, defined as accounts with no activity for a period of two years or longer, will be labeled as dormant. These accounts are at increased risk of being targeted by hackers and fraudulent individuals. The RBI’s initiative to close such accounts aims to safeguard customers and maintain the security of the banking sector

Inactive accounts: Accounts that have shown no transaction activity in the last 12 months or longer are considered inactive. Account holders must reach out to their bank branch and complete the required steps to reactivate their account if no transactions have been made during this time. This initiative is aimed at lessening the workload for banks, improving operational effectiveness, and decreasing the likelihood of online fraud.

Zero balance accounts: Accounts with a zero balance for an extended period may be subject to closure. The primary objective of the RBI is to eliminate the misuse of these accounts, mitigate financial risks, and encourage consistent communication between customers and their banks. This initiative also serves to strengthen compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations, ensuring that customer information is up-to-date and accurate.

Steps to revive dormant accounts

To avoid account closure, account holders should take the following actions:

Reactivate inactive accounts: If an account has been inactive for over 12 months, it is recommended to make at least one transaction.

Engage with dormant accounts: Accounts that have been dormant for two years should be reactivated by visiting the bank branch.

Maintain a positive balance: It is important to ensure that the account does not remain at a zero balance for an extended period.

Income tax rule: As 2024 ends, it’s clear that India’s financial sector has experienced significant income tax reforms. The Union Budget 2024-25 introduced impactful changes to personal income tax, further refined by announcements in July 2024. Effective for the current financial year (2024-25), these revisions will influence the deductions and exemptions taxpayers can claim when filing their income tax returns(ITR) in July 2025.

1). New regime income tax slabs changed under the new tax regime

The new tax regime’s revised slabs offer taxpayers potential annual savings of 17,500.

New regime income tax slab rates

Up to 3 lakh – Nil

3-7 lakh – 5%

7-10 lakh – 10%

10-12 lakh – 15%

12-15 lakh – 20%

Above 15 lakh – 30%

2). Standard deduction hiked

Under the new tax regime, the government increased the standard deduction ceiling from 50,000 to 75,000 and the standard deduction limit for family pensioners from 15,000 to 25,000.

3). Old regime income tax regime

The budget announcements on July 22 did not change the old tax regime. However, the standard deduction limit does not change if an individual opts for the old tax regime.

Old regime income tax slab rates

Upto 2.5 lakh- Nil

2.5- 5 lakh- 5%.

5 lakh to 10 lakh- 20%.

Income above 10 lakh- 30%.

4). Capital gains taxation

Short-term capital gains tax has increased from 15% to 20%, and long-term capital gains tax has risen from 10% to 12.50% on listed shares and equity mutual funds. The tax-exempt threshold for long-term capital gains has also been raised from 1 lakh to 1,25,000.

5). Increase in rates of Securities Transactions Tax

Traders in equity derivatives (F&O) will face higher Securities Transaction Tax (STT) rates. The STT on options will increase from 0.0625% to 0.1% of the premium (the same rate as delivery transactions), while the STT on futures will rise from 0.0125% to 0.02% of the traded price.

6). Changes in taxation of buyback of shares

From October 1, 2024, the tax treatment of share buybacks has changed significantly. Previously, shareholders were exempt from tax on buyback proceeds (under Section 10(34A)), while the company paid a 20% tax (plus surcharge and cess) on the net buyback amount. Amended income tax laws will tax buyback proceeds as income for individual shareholders, similar to taxing dividends at their applicable income tax slab rates.

7). Indexation benefit

The indexation has been removed for all long-term capital gains. However, a resident Indian or a HUF has been given an option of 12.5% without indexation and 20% with indexation benefits on land and property sales. This change is a major concern for many real estate investors, particularly those who have held properties for extended periods, as it’s expected to increase their tax burden.

8). TDS

Several key changes to Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) were proposed in Budget 2024. The 5% TDS rate on various payments will be merged into the 2% rate, and the 20% TDS on mutual fund/UTI unit repurchases will be withdrawn. The TDS rate for e-commerce operators is set to decrease significantly from 1% to 0.1%. Additionally, Tax Collected at Source (TCS) will be creditable against TDS deducted from salaries. Finally, delays in TDS payments will be decriminalized, provided the payment is made by the TDS statement filing deadline.

9). Reopening Assessments: 50 Lakh Threshold

Assessments can now be reopened up to five years after the end of the relevant assessment year, but only if the escaped income exceeds 50 lakh.

10). Vivad se Vishwas scheme

For dispute resolution and dispose-off backlogs, the Union Finance Minister proposed the Vivad se Vishwas Scheme, 2024, to resolve certain income tax disputes pending appeal.

This scheme was announced in Budget 2024 and allows taxpayers to pay a lower tax amount. “Under this scheme, you must pay the disputed tax amount and a specified percentage of this amount along with Form 1 to the Income Tax Department. Once this amount is deposited, the Income Tax Department will close the dispute and waive all the additional penalties and interest applicable,”said Abhishek Soni, CEO of Tax2win.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced some massive upgrades to the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system in order to make the transactions easier with improved user experience. The changes include increasing the transaction limits, bigger UPI circles, which as per RBI, can benefit millions of users.

If you are a Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm or even a feature phone user, here are all the changes that have been implemented and can benefit you.

Increased Transaction Limits for UPI123Pay

The authority has raised the UPI123Pay transaction limits for feature phone users. Users of the feature phone can now send up to Rs 10,000. The previous cap was set at Rs 5,000. This makes it simpler for feature phone users to conduct their financial transactions because users can now send more money using UPI123Pay.

However, it should be noted that this increased limit only applies to UPI123Pay. Well-known UPI apps for smartphones, such as PhonePe, Paytm, and Google Pay, will still permit daily transactions up to Rs 1 lakh. The daily cap has been increased to Rs 5 lakh for medical emergencies, which is the main exception and guarantees prompt access to money in an emergency.

UPI Circle

Along with increased transaction limits, the UPI Circle has also got a significant update. The UPI Circle, which allows users to add family members or friends to a shared payment circle, will be added to other platforms like PhonePe, Paytm, and Google Pay. Till now, the feature was limited to BHIM app users. Through this feature, the secondary users will be able to make payments with the approval of the primary user or can be assigned a specific limit. This feature is useful for parents who want to give their children limited financial freedom without opening their bank accounts.

Meanwhile, UPI has seen a massive growth in 2024. As per Ministry of Finance, 15,537 crore transactions were recorded from January to November 2024, with the total transaction value reaching a massive Rs 223 lakh crore. These changes will now enable more users to make daily transactions.

IRCTC ticket booking: Booking a train ticket? 5 key things to know about new Indian Railways advance reservation rules https://jobuza.com/irctc-ticket-booking-booking/ https://jobuza.com/irctc-ticket-booking-booking/#respond Thu, 19 Dec 2024 06:53:26 +0000 https://jobuza.com/?p=2178 The post IRCTC ticket booking: Booking a train ticket? 5 key things to know about new Indian Railways advance reservation rules appeared first on JOBUZA.

The Indian Railways has made a significant change to its ticketing policy, i.e. by reducing the advance reservation period (ARP) for train tickets from 120 days to now 60 days. This new rule takes effect from today i.e. November 1, 2024. Passengers who have already booked their tickets will not be impacted by this adjustment and can continue with their travel plans as scheduled.

As per Ministry, the revised the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) for train bookings came in order to to promote genuine passengers. It added that the the change is to reflect true passenger demand, as approximately 21 percent of reservations made for 61 to 120 days in advance were canceled, and 5 percent of passengers failed to show up for their trips.

Here are top 5 points to know about

1. The ministry added saying that “certain daytime express trains like the Taj Express and Gomti Express will continue to follow the lower time limits for advance reservations.”

2. The advance reservation period of 365 days for foreign tourists will remain unchanged.

3. Existing bookings made under the 120-day advance reservation period before October 31, 2024, will remain valid. Reservations made beyond the new ARP of 60 days will still be eligible for cancellation.

4. The ministry added that the new policy aims to tackle the issue of passengers not showing up without canceling tickets, which often leads to impersonation and fraud.

5. Notably, the ministry in its statement also mentioned that during 1995-1998, advance reservation period was as low as 30 days.

Passenger luggage beyond permissible limit to attract fine

Earlier on Wednesday, The Western Railway said that a penalty will be imposed if the luggage of passengers exceeds the permissible limit for their respective travel class and urged people not to overcrowd stations. Each passenger is permitted to carry a certain amount of luggage without charge, but items such as scooters and bicycles, as well as consignments exceeding dimensions of 100 cm x 100 cm x 70 cm do not qualify for the free allowance, the WR said in a release on Tuesday. According to the release, “Western Railway urges all passengers to avoid overcrowding at stations and to enter premises only as necessary, in accordance with train schedules, while adhering to the established luggage limits.
